Which processor should I choose? VDS processor comparison
A technical summary of the five processor families. Game servers depend on single-core speed; databases and multi-user applications on core count and memory.
| Processor | Cores / threads | Max frequency | Memory | Max vCPU per VDS | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 9 7950X VDS | 16 / 32 | 5.7 GHz | DDR5 | 16 | ₺535.00 / mo |
| Intel Core i9-10980XE VDS | 18 / 36 | 4.8 GHz | DDR4 | 20 | ₺380.00 / mo |
| Intel Core i9-10920X VDS | 12 / 24 | 4.8 GHz | DDR4 | 20 | ₺380.00 / mo |
| Intel Core i9-10940X VDS | 14 / 28 | 4.8 GHz | DDR4 | 16 | ₺380.00 / mo |
| Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 VDS | 22 / 44 | 3.6 GHz | DDR4 | 32 | ₺270.00 / mo |
For game servers where single-core speed matters (FiveM, Minecraft, Rust), the highest-frequency processor stands out. For price-sensitive workloads that need many vCPUs, the high core count Xeon family is the better fit; the Intel Core i9 models sit in between. Each processor's page lists per-game recommendations and ready-made packages.

What is a virtual server (VDS) and what is it for?
A virtual server is a slice of a powerful physical machine, divided by a virtualisation layer and reserved for you. You get your own operating system, your own root or administrator access and your own IP address, so unlike shared hosting you can install whatever software you need.
When you buy a virtual server from Datafex, the vCPU, RAM and storage you see in the plan are reserved for you. We do not oversell virtualisation capacity and we never sell shared hosting under a performance server label, so you do not face sudden slowdowns caused by a noisy neighbour at peak hours.
Typical workloads: game servers (FiveM VDS, Minecraft server, Metin2 server, Rust), Forex VDS (MT4/MT5), Discord bot hosting, e-commerce sites, web applications and API services, databases, development and staging environments.

Read before you buy
Measurable guidance on sizing, location and protection. Every guide is built on real figures and verifiable steps.
- What is a VDS and how does it differ from a VPS?The real difference between VDS and VPS is resource sharing. What overselling means, how a noisy neighbour affects you, and what to ask before buying.
- How much vCPU and RAM does a server need?Adding vCPUs does not always help; some workloads are bound to one core. Sizing by workload type, how the RAM calculation works, and when to upgrade.
- Why does server location matter? Ping and latencyLatency is determined by distance, not hardware. Typical ping values from Türkiye, how much it matters per game, and how to measure it with mtr.
- What is DDoS protection? What to check when buying a serverThe difference between L3/L4 and L7 protection, the limits of “unlimited protection”, and why UDP floods on game servers need separate handling.

What is the difference between VDS and VPS?
The two terms are often mixed up. The distinction is whether the resources are reserved for you.
| Criterion | Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) | Virtual Shared Server (VPS) |
|---|---|---|
| Resource allocation | The vCPU, RAM and storage in the plan are reserved for you | Resources are shared between several customers |
| Performance consistency | Unaffected by other workloads on the same machine | Can vary when a neighbour is under heavy load |
| Overselling | Never applied on Datafex virtualisation | Depends on the provider |
| Best suited for | Game servers, databases, busy APIs and production workloads | Small web projects, testing and learning environments |
| Availability at Datafex | On sale — 5 processor families | Coming soon |

Frequently asked questions about buying a virtual server
- What determines virtual server pricing?
- The price depends on the processor family you choose, the number of vCPUs, the amount of RAM and NVMe storage, the network speed option and the billing period. Plan tables show monthly net amounts; for 3, 6, 12 and 24 month terms the current total is shown in the configurator before payment.
- Is there a difference between buying and renting a virtual server?
- No, both describe the same service. When you buy a VDS the hardware stays in the Datafex cabinet; you rent the resources you chose monthly or for 3, 6, 12 or 24 month periods and renew at the end of the period. So buying a virtual server and renting one differ neither in price nor in delivery. If you want the whole machine reserved for you, look at the dedicated servers.
- What is the difference between VDS and VPS?
- On a VDS (virtual dedicated server) the vCPU, RAM and storage listed in the plan are reserved for you. On a VPS (virtual shared server) the same resources are shared between several customers and performance can vary at peak times. Datafex never oversells its virtualisation capacity, and every plan currently on sale is a VDS.
- Which resources should I look at when buying a virtual server?
- Start from the number of concurrent users and the memory footprint of your application. Game servers usually need strong single core performance and more than 8 GB of RAM, while database and API workloads are driven by storage speed and RAM. The plan tables on each processor family page show vCPU, RAM and storage ranges together.
- Can I install Windows on a virtual server?
- Yes. During checkout you can pick one of the active Windows Server editions or Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS) listed in the product configurator. After delivery you can switch to another supported template through the reinstall flow in the customer panel.
- Which operating systems can I install, and is the OS part of the disk?
- There are currently 16 templates: Windows Server 2025/2022/2019/2016/2012; on the Linux side Ubuntu 25.04/24.04/22.04/20.04/18.04, Debian 13/12/11/10, and CentOS 8/7. The operating system is installed on your NVMe disk; no separate disk is reserved for it.
- How long does virtual server delivery take?
- Provisioning starts automatically once the payment is verified. You can follow the service status in the customer panel while it runs, and see the IP address, username and password in the service detail page once it completes.
- Which payment methods can I use to buy a virtual server?
- You can pay by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer. With a card, setup starts automatically once payment is confirmed. For bank transfers the sender name must match the name on your account; the invoice is approved after your payment notice is checked.
- Can I upgrade the resources later?
- You can request vCPU, RAM and storage upgrades within the limits the product allows. Shrinking storage is not supported in order to avoid data loss, and the price difference is shown before you approve it.
- Are virtual servers backed up?
- Yes. Virtual servers are backed up daily and backups with 5-day retention are included; you choose the retention in the configurator when ordering. For longer retention, the 30-day option costs ₺750.00 per month.
- Are the virtual servers DDoS protected?
- Yes, every virtual server is DDoS protected and the protection is included free. Traffic passes through Datafex's layered DDoS protection: volumetric attacks are removed at distributed nodes and the router, the rest by Fexwall between L4 and L7, with automatic protection against spoofed source addresses. You can request a project specific security profile whenever you need one.
- Where are the servers hosted?
- The servers run on Datafex owned cabinets and infrastructure inside the DGN Data Center in Bursa, Türkiye. The network is backed by a redundant uplink with 100 Gbps domestic and 10 Tbps international capacity.
- What is the availability (uptime) commitment for virtual servers?
- Server services have a 99.95% monthly availability target and an average 5-minute first response target for critical tickets. Measurement and service credits are described on the Service Level Agreement (SLA) page; you can follow the live status of the infrastructure on the status page.
- Can I manage the server from the panel?
- Yes. From the service detail page you can start, stop and reboot the server, reinstall the operating system, follow CPU, RAM, storage and network metrics, and manage the rDNS record for eligible IPv4 addresses.
- Does a virtual server come with an IP address?
- Yes. An IPv4 address is assigned during setup; the IP address, username and password are shown on the service page in the customer panel. You can manage rDNS for eligible IPv4 addresses from the panel.
